Daniel Weisman (Artistic Director)

American tenor and director Daniel Weisman has earned recognition for his stage versatility, unique lyricism, and interpretive imagination. At the start of the 2018-2019 season, Mr. Weisman was a featured soloist and assistant choreographer in Capitol City Opera Company’s A Bernstein Celebration and as Anthony & Tobias in the same company’s dinner theatre scenes from Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. He went on to make company debuts with Art Song Collective of Richmond, KY, as the tenor soloist in their concert Depths, with Peach State Opera as the assistant director for their touring production of La bohème, with the Georgia Tech Symphony and Chorus as the tenor soloist in Bartok’s Cantata Profana.

Mr. Weisman continued the season singing the role of Gherardo in Capitol City Opera Company’s production of Gianni Schicchi as well as in Michael Ching’s Buoso’s Ghost, as the tenor soloist in Tim Sharp’s Come Away to the Skies: High Lonesome Mass with Northwest Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, and will round out his season with the premiere of in Ryan Suleiman’s Moon, Bridge, Dogs II as Moon with North American New Opera Works.

Other career highlights include Sancho Panza in Capitol City Opera Company’s Man of La Mancha, Daniel Buchanan in Dean Anthony’s production of Street Scene with Janiec Opera Company, and as Stage Director for small opera company in 2016, staging their inaugural performance of Così fan tutte.

Melanie Burbules (Artistic Associate)

Melanie Burbules, soprano, is emerging as an exciting operatic young artist and singing actress. Recently, Melanie made her Atlanta soloist debut with Capitol City Opera in their Rising Stars concert and the “Dinner and a Diva” concert series. Other notable roles include Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) and Margaret Krusemark (Falling Angel) with the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center; Soloist in 24-Hour Opera Project (The Atlanta Opera); The Mother (cover – Amahl and the Night Visitors) with Marble City Opera; The Secretary (The Consul), Dritte Dame (Die Zauberflöte) and Medea (Medea – world premiere) with the University of Tennessee Opera Theater; Annina (Der Rosenkavalier) with the Harrower Opera Workshop.

Melanie is a graduate of the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where she received a Master of Music in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in Vocal Pedagogy, and she received a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Boston University.

In Atlanta, Melanie performs with the The Atlanta Opera Chorus and Capitol City Opera, serves as the “Co-Managing Diva” for Opera on Tap Atlanta, and she is a soprano staff singer at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Melanie is also a passionate teacher. She is a part-time vocal instructor at the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts (Pebblebrook High School), and she is an Adjunct Faculty member at Agnes Scott College. In Spring 2019, she produced and performed in a solo recital entitled, “Empowered: A Celebration of Women’s Voices,” with the Capitol City in Concert series, which featured music and text by women in honor of International Women’s Day.

Kate Doriot (Financial Administrator)

Kate Doriot, soprano, is an Atlanta-based young artist who recently performed with ACO as La Contessa in their 2019 production of Le Nozze di Figaro. In 2020 she joins our leadership team as our Financial Administrator in preparation for our winter season.

Ms. Doriot has also collaborated with ATLVocalite, Capital City Opera and as a member of The Atlanta Opera Chorus since 2017. She is a graduate of Georgia State University with a BM in Vocal Performance, where she studied the roles of Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Mimi in La bohéme while singing the roles of Zweite Dame in Die Zaubertflöte, Mother in Hansel and Gretel, and Pitti-Sing in The Mikado.

 

Sean St. Pierre (Designer)

Costumer, artist, model, graphic designer, and web designer Sean St. Pierre is a factotum providing services to the Atlanta and Orlando areas. A graduate of Seminole State College of Florida, Sean took his Associates in Graphic Design to new levels, designing personal websites, comic and gaming convention costuming, company websites, coding, and artistic design for various platforms, including as an emote and stream designer on Twitch.tv, where his services are well known.
